Why Kids’ Yoga?

Most people nowadays know of the spectacular benefits that come to children who regularly practice yoga. Their flexibility is improved, they learn healthy coping mechanisms, and exhibit heightened levels of concentration. Yoga can also lead children to make healthier lifestyle choices, which may carry on throughout their lives. However, most yoga classes aren’t geared specifically towards children. You can choose to bring your child to a normal yoga class for adults, but they may not reap the same benefits as they would in a class that’s designed specifically for them.

In our kids’ yoga classes, Nannette Simone-Furman, former teacher and licensed Kundalini Yoga instructor, takes her experience in the school system to create fun, exciting, and uplifting classes for your little ones. From doing yoga poses based on animals to songs that incorporate self-affirming mantras, your child will surely find something that they love in our kids’ yoga classes.

The skills taught in these classes don’t just begin and end in the studio, however. The changes you’ll see in your child with each passing class will be huge. The breathing exercises (or Pranayama) taught in the class may help your child learn to manage stress in their everyday lives, and promote self-awareness that will help them thrive and grow.

Our kids’ yoga classes are a weekly way to get your kids moving and smiling. Classes run on Saturdays from 2-3pm and are best suited for children between the ages of 5 and 12, though any age of child is welcome!
