You may already be familiar with the mantra “sat nam”, meaning “I am truth”, from Kundalini yoga or other spiritual traditions. However, you may not yet be familiar with the “satsang”, a spiritual practice that is practiced in many traditions.
The word “Satsang” comes from the words “Sangha”, meaning a spiritual community, and “Sat”, meaning truth. Experience this beautiful gathering and unite with the truth during this event while you feel the flow of love and spiritual dialogue.
Satsang can be practiced in a variety of ways. The first is through a community gathering in the presence of a teacher or a spiritual leader. Another way one can practice Satsang is if their life becomes Satsang, through the act of always living one’s truth or being in the presence of one’s truth. The highest form of Satsang is communication with God, and the reading of holy scriptures. It can be practiced through communications with others, or silently, being in commune with the universe around them. Satsang helps people become more in touch with their Sattvic, or pure, nature.
Satsang is opposed by Asatsang, meaning non-Satsang. Asatsang is caused by the pull of the material world, and distraction from one’s self and spirituality. Satsang is said to be one of the few ways that those who are trapped in samsara, or the cycle of reincarnation, can be saved, and is associated with the highest form of good.
Satsangs as they are practiced today have been practiced by a variety of spiritual sects for thousands of years. These are usually meetings for followers of a specific form of spirituality to come together and be in the presence of a teacher, hearing their teachings and having their questions answered. There are also parts of the Satsang that may happen, such as live music, meditation, and more.
One doesn’t need any previous experience to join in or practice Satsang, all you need it an open heart and a willingness to connect with your deeper self and your spirituality.
The Satsang consists of multiple parts. You will experience spiritual teachings, and you will have the chance to have questions about spirituality or yogic teachings answered by Mahadev. There will also be chanting and a meditation during the event. Through this practice, you will strengthen your spirituality and your mind so that you will be able to see all things clearly and with an open heart. Every Sunday at 12pm, you can join Mahadev and practice Satsang for yourself! We hope you’ll join us for this beautiful, uplifting experience.

What Do I Need When I Join a Satsang?
- A comfortable place to sit, preferably on the ground or somewhere you can sit or lie down
- A quiet room where you would feel comfortable practicing meditation. Try creating a good environment in which to meditate by lighting a candle, burning incense, or using oils or sprays with calming scents.
- Any questions you might have for the leader to answer. If you have any specific questions about spirituality, the practice of Kundalini Yoga, or any teachings, have them written down so that you’re able to have them answered!
- An open heart. To fully give and receive the energy generated by the community during this practice, it is necessary to be open to it. You must also be open to learning new teachings and ways of thinking so that you will be able to get the most out of these special community experiences.
