In contemplation of the New Year and the noticeably increased focus through the media on Health and Wellness, I have been considering my own evaluation of healthy living and the path to wellness. In an effort to organize the vast generalization of optimal health I found facilitating my review by categorizing health into facets was helpful. Thinking of health as Spiritual, Physical, Mental, and Emotional was thought provoking. I found that this path to observe wellness involves strong mindfulness.
Looking at how our bodies’ nutritional needs are, it is apparent they importantly contribute to the substantial relationship of our overall health. We must begin by trying to consider for instance the habits we embrace and how they impact these facets of our lives. Oftentimes the routines or habits we maintain are not revisited to adjust to either the changing seasonal needs or to our inevitable forward moving aging process. The routines I like to look at are the vitamins and herbs taken to support increased functionality along with the types of food we eat and the quantity and times we eat. All of these are subject to the seasons and the environmental provisions of each. In Yoga, we have a science that helps with this evaluation throughout the intervals of our lives. It is called Ayurveda. Practical and logical, I use the tools of this science daily to assist with understanding my own nutritional balance. Along the wellness path is the essential idea that body movement is Prana or Chi! Consider mindfully from the time you awake, the movement your body is subject to. In the effort to maximize our physical body’s energy and functionality we must find ways to continue to challenge our bodies with movement. Yoga is my “go to” because it offers within its varieties the challenges of movement that work to improve balance, circulation, flexibility, and stamina among others. The many varieties of yoga give us the opportunity for finding the yoga our body vibes with most which can be extremely motivational. Be encouraged to try them and have fun by mixing them up! Did you know that Kundalini Yoga combines various yoga styles into a comprehensive bundle? This is an effective way to maximize using your time and efforts to enhance influences in your subtle body as well as your spiritual health. Try it out here at RYKyoga.com.
Further down our path to wellness, we look at emotional patterns and overall mental health. It is important to understand that emotions are linked to the exposure we have to the environment and the effect it has on us. Holistically it is important to create the environment that is best suited to you. This originates with the home you select to live in, the location you choose to live such as a city or state, and the natural surroundings around each of these. The job you do and where you work have similar consequences. All of these are an extension of you and if they do not align with bringing positivity, clarity, joy, peace, calm, happiness, etc, your emotions will not be supportive to the stability of your mental health.
Slow down and take some time to contemplate the details surrounding your life and make some necessary changes this New Year to help maintain a steady path to wellness that brings you Prosperity. A great way to start is to understand that your path is unique. Go slow. Go mindful. Try journaling what you learn along the way. Before you make changes or adjustments, use your intuitiveness and wisdom. Make this a sacred walk and stay focused on your healthy vision. Health is Wealth and Wealth is Prosperity! Happy Healthy New Year!
